Hemodynamic changes in fetal lamb in uteroin response to asphyxia, hypoxia, and hypercapnia.

چکیده
• "When fetaJ asphyxia or hypoxia is induced by reduction of uterine and umbilical circulations oi" by administration of a gas mixture of low oxygen content to the mother, there is an increase in the fetal arterial pressure." The effects on the fetal heart rate appear to be variable. Bradycardia has been observed by several investigators.*~ Born et al. noted that the changes in heart rate depended on the degree of hypoxia; when hypoxia was '' moderate,'' tachycardia occurred. Only when the oxygen lack became severe was there bradyeardia. Reynolds and Paul found that the changes in the fetal heart rate during hypoxia were variable, slow rates usually being associated with, more severe hypoxic states.

Quantitative evaluation of hemodynamic parameters during acute alveolar hypoxia and hypercapnia in the isolated ventilated-perfused rabbit lung
Introduction: Acute respiratory disorders such as obstructive pulmonary diseases and hypoventilation may lead to alveolar hypoxia and hypercapnia which their effects on pulmonary vascular beds are controversial. The aim of this study was to establish the isolated perfused lung setup and investigate the effects of alveolar hypoxia and hypercapnia on pulmonary vascular resistance. Methods: White ...
متن کاملHypoxia and Hypercapnia
The renin response to hypoxia in late gestation fetal sheep has been well characterized. However, the renin response to asphyxia-the combination of hypoxia and hypercapnia-has not been extensively studied. The purpose of this study was to determine 1) the interaction of hypoxia and hypercapnia in the control of renin secretion in late gestation fetal sheep and 2) the role of peripheral arterial...
متن کاملEarly Cerebral Hemodynamic, Metabolic, and Histological Changes in Hypoxic–Ischemic Fetal Lambs during Postnatal Life
The hemodynamic, metabolic, and biochemical changes produced during the transition from fetal to neonatal life may be aggravated if an episode of asphyxia occurs during fetal life. The aim of the study was to examine regional cerebral blood flow (RCBF), histological changes, and cerebral brain metabolism in preterm lambs, and to analyze the role of oxidative stress in the first hours of postnat...
متن کاملHemodynamic and metabolic responses to moderate asphyxia in brain and skeletal muscle of late-gestation fetal sheep.
The purpose of this study was to investigate metabolic and hemodynamic responses in two fetal tissues, hindlimb muscle and brain, to an episode of acute moderate asphyxia. Near-infrared spectroscopy was used to measure changes in total hemoglobin concentration ([tHb]) and the redox state of cytochrome oxidase (COX) simultaneously in the brain and hindlimb of near-term unanesthetized fetal sheep...
متن کاملEffects of asphyxia on lung fluid balance in baby lambs.
The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of combined hypoxia and hypercapnia and of severe asphyxia on lung water balance and protein transport in newborn lambs. We studied ten 2-4-wk-old anesthetized lambs which were mechanically ventilated first with air for 2-3 h, then with 10-12% oxygen in nitrogen for 2-4 h, and then with 10-12% oxygen and 10-12% carbon dioxide in nitrogen for 2...
